BioWare Austin is seeking candidates for a Network Security Engineer role, a key member of the security operations team. This position provides hands on security services management and operations for all aspects of the operations team. These responsibilities extend to providing input on networking access controls, vulnerability management, intrusion detection systems, denial of service systems and load balancing application firewalls.

This is a hands-on technical operations position which will be responsible for technical implementation of security controls and maintenance of internal security controls.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Monitoring and updating Web Application Firewalls
• Monitoring and updating intrusion detection and prevention systems
• Monitoring and updating denial of service systems
• Monitoring security bulletins, determining applicability and coordinating action plans
• Escalating and coordinating appropriate action for security incidents
• Review access control lists and updating firewalls as needed
• Interfacing with Network Engineering Team to ensure appropriate security measures are in place.
• Adhering to high-quality standards and best practices, high performance, and scalable, repeatable processes and deliverables in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and investigate security-related, information systems’ anomalies based on security platform reporting, network traffic, log files, host-based and automated security alerts.
• Evaluate systems using vulnerability scanners and manual techniques to verify system security settings and configurations.
• Participation in an on-call support rotation required
• Travel may be required, but less than 10%

REQUIREMENTS
•3-8 years security experience
•Demonstrated ability to meet stringent project deadlines
•Prior experience in hands-on technical network security architecture & design, network security solution engineering, network security technology implementation, and network security operations role.
•A strong knowledge of security issues surrounding UNIX, Windows, TCPIP, SMTP, HTTP and DNS (and other internet protocols) is essential.
•Experienced in the configuration and operation of network and/or host-based security solutions such as firewalls, IDS, web application firewalls, ddos protection systems and load balancers.
•Experienced in troubleshooting, auditing, and performing forensic analysis on TCPIP based networks through utilization of log analysis, protocol analyzers, and network-sniffing technologies.
•Must be able to create documents, spreadsheets, detailed drawings using the MS Office Suite and Visio.
•Strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills are strongly desired.
•Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills a must.
•Certifications in one or more of the following desirable: CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, CCSE, GCIA, GCFW, GCED or GSEC
•Bachelors degree in an IT discipline desired.

BioWare Austin seeks candidates for the position of SQL Server Database Administrator. The Database Administrator will develop and maintain database infrastructure components for online games. This job requires a high level of expertise in administration, development, backup, recovery, and tuning of database components. While the main focus will be on operational database administration, development DBA capabilities will be needed to excel in this position. The successful candidate must be able to proactively plan, implement, and maintain DB operational services as well as develop database architectural and script based components. Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle experience in a production environment is required.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of all technologies related to database systems in a collaborative environment populated by domain experts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The DBA administers and maintains relational databases and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases. With limited supervision the successful candidate will:
• Maintain integrity and reliability of data and databases through the development of data models and standards
• Document and maintain database architecture and operational procedures.
• Automate routine maintenance tasks as appropriate and ensure proper backup procedures are in place and in use
• Rollout and maintain in OEM in our operational environment
• Work with developers to optimize schema design and SQL statement design
• Perform database performance tuning, address database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues
• Complete complex assignments requiring technical knowledge and experience to develop and implement creative solutions
• Create and maintain best practice maintenance plans for MS SQL Server
• Robust backup and recovery system
• New database infrastructure components for online games
• Automated database monitoring solutions utilizing OEM

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Minimum of 7 years experience in Relational Database Administration in a production environment
• Database administration experience, along with experience on mid to large-scale, distributed web architectures
• Experience with “state of the art” application server environments, and enterprise integration technologies is required
• Oracle Relational database administration experience is required

Server Management Studio
• Experience with Capicity Planning and data management
• Expert level of instance tuning
• Expert level of patching, upgrade and data migration

Oracle
• Oracle Production DBA experience
• Expert with backup and recovery solutions including planning, implementing and periodic evaluation of backup/recovery (offline/online) strategies, RMAN, recovery catalog, fast recovery strategies, and interfacing with third party products and hardware
• Medium level of SQL tuning
• Medium level of instance tuning
• Medium level of storage tuning
• Medium level of replication based solutions
• Knowledge of Oracle internals

Database Programming:
• T-SQL, PL/SQL and PL/SQL optimization techniques

Windows:
• Batch scripting and automation techniques
• Windows monitoring and tuning techniques as they pertain to a DBA

UNIX:
• Shell Scripting in both bash & perl
• Linux monitoring and tuning techniques as they pertain to a DBA

Pluses:
• Data Warehouse experience
