Halifax - Senior Animator
at Longtail Studios Halifax in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Are you looking for an exciting new experience? Do you have enough experience to share and become a mentor on the animation production process? Are you up for the challenge?
We are currently looking for a Senior Animator to join Longtail Studios for our Xbox 360 and PS3 titles in development. As well as working directly on producing the animations required for our games, the applicant will be expected to work closely with the Art Director to lead and participate in the defining the animation processes, pipeline and animation style.
He/she will also have to establish, maintain and enhance relationships both within the team and also outsourcers contracted for the projects. Additionally, the successful applicant will be involved in setting goals and objectives for junior team members and act as a visionary, mentor and coach.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Art Director to lead and participate in the creation and implementation of animation, while keeping to the projects tone.
• Establish, maintain and enhance relationships with inside and outside creative resources.
• Work with other senior employees and set goals and objectives for the animation team members and act as a visionary, mentor and coach.
• Collaborate on setting up the animation pipeline and give input for its management
• Supervising the animators (time and creative feedback)
• Create animations for the game
• Be in charge of the training of the junior animators and serve as a mentor
Requirements
• 4 years minimum of experience as an animator in Video games or related Industry.
• Strong understanding of traditional animation theory, and the ability to Animate Characters and objects with a HIGH level of quality.
• Setting the standard for junior animators on the team.
• Ability to animate realistic human motions.
• Extensive knowledge of Character rigging and weighting.
• Highly proficient in 3D Studio Max
• BA desired
• Great communication skills both written and verbal
• DEMO REEL displaying 3D ANIMATION is required.
• Traditional art background desired
