SDK documentation - games middleware
Full-time at Autodesk in Montreal, Quebec
Autodesk Games is a group of innovative, talented renegades dedicated to redefining the way video games are created.
We are looking for a contractor to work in our SDK documentation team, managing the documentation for our suite of middleware products for the game industry, including Kynapse, HumanIK, and Beast. The position is a parental leave replacement, starting in February and lasting until September.
You will be responsible for writing traditional forms of documentation and creating effective new teaching aids that explain to customers how to use our products and solutions. A motivated and creative self-starter, you thrive in a fast-paced environment where both individual contributions and teamwork make a difference. You have a flair for writing, empathy for the user, and an innate ability to set priorities, manage your tasks and meet your deadlines.
You'll work at our Old Montreal office with a diverse group in a fast-paced, casual environment that is a lot of fun. Some of your tasks and responsibilities may include:
• Designing, writing and maintaining learning content for a variety of products, including 3D content authoring tools and “middleware” SDKs that customers integrate into their games.
• Writing documentation for game designers and programmers.
• Contributing to product design and development through feedback on usability.
• Gaining a detailed overall knowledge of game development processes and the role of Autodesk software in customer pipelines.
• Working closely with software developers, product designers and support engineers to get the information and feedback you need.
• Working closely with other technical communicators to gather and integrate cross-product content.
Requirements:
• Superlative English writing skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience documenting software
• Technical aptitude, curiosity and quick comprehension of new concepts
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, to meet deadlines, and to laugh in the face of pressure
Desired Knowledge/Skills:
• Good French communication skills
• Experience with programming in object-oriented languages such as C++
• Knowledge of HTML, XML and related web technologies
• Exposure to 3D design, animation and rendering software
• Familiarity with version control systems and content management systems
• Interest in games, game development and the game industry
